Our mission
The Sustainable Development Plan of the National Technical University of Athens aims to integrate and promote the principles of sustainability in the daily operation and strategic development of the Foundation. The Plan starts from the deep awareness of the necessity for a sustainable future and the responsibility of the National Technical University of Athens to act as a pioneer in the adoption and implementation of sustainable practices in everyday life and in the long-term strategy of the Technical University.
With the following goals, the National Technical University of Athens seeks to establish an integrated and timeless approach to sustainable development, with an emphasis on continuous improvement and the active participation of the university community.
- Minimizing Environmental impact: Implementation of measures and application of technologies aimed at systematically reducing energy consumption and waste generation, while strengthening recycling and circular economy processes. Upgrading the infrastructure by integrating innovative and sustainable technologies in all the functions of the institution. Sustainable renovation and upgrading of university buildings with green practices and materials. Creation of green spaces and enhancement of biodiversity in the NTUA campuses.
- Strengthening of Educational and Information Actions: Promote education and awareness on issues related to environmental degradation and sustainability among students, faculty and administrative staff, encouraging a culture of ecological sensitivity and active participation. Organize information campaigns and events to promote sustainable development.
- Development of Partnerships and Networking: Establish and strengthen partnerships with other educational institutions and associations for the exchange of knowledge and joint actions for the promotion of sustainable practices.
- Promoting Innovation: Implement policies that facilitate adaptation to new sustainable technologies and good practices, thus ensuring the potential for continuous improvement and development.
