Competitions and Extracurricular Activities

NTUA encourages participation in competitions focused on sustainable design and innovation. For example, students of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Architecture of the National Technical University of Athens collaborated in international ASHRAE student competitions for the sustainable energy design of buildings and systems, resulting in the second place worldwide in 2021 and the third place in 2024. These activities provide students with real challenges and the opportunity to apply their knowledge to sustainability.

Since 2016, NTUA, through the UNESCO Chair for Green Innovation and Circular Economy, has been coordinating the national green innovation program GreenTech Challenge, under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment and Energy. The aim of the GreenTech Challenge, through the participation of institutions and students, is to address critical environmental issues with the use of green technologies and promote green sustainable innovation.

Through these diverse educational offerings, NTUA ensures that sustainability It is not just an additional element but a central axis of its academic philosophy, preparing students to contribute effectively to a sustainable future in their professional careers and personal lives.
