Educational campaigns and workshops on sustainability
NTUA actively encourages students’ participation in competitions and initiatives that promote sustainability, cultivating skills and awareness beyond the standard curriculum. For example, mixed groups of students from the School of Mechanical Engineering and the School of Architecture participated in ASHRAE’s international student competitions on sustainable and energy design of buildings and systems, achieving significant distinctions (2nd place worldwide in 2021 and 3rd place in 2024).

In July 2018 a group of students from the National Technical University of Athens founded Envinow.gr website, with the aim of informing and raising awareness of society on issues related to the environment and climate change. Through this website, the dissemination of knowledge about sustainable development and smart cities is achieved providing a meaningful dialogue between academia and the broader society.
The particularity of Envinow.gr is that it includes only columnists from the scientific community of environment-related professions, namely students, doctoral candidates and professors from the National Technical University of Athens or experienced executives of the environmental market. The editorial team includes participants from 7 different faculties of the National Technical University of Athens, Civil Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Surveying Engineers and Architectural Engineers.
